If you’ve been practicing yoga for a while, you’ll know that yoga is so much more than a physical experience. Anat created these classes to help you to understand and access the glorious, multidimensional facets of yoga. Her teachings integrate the physical, emotional and energetic aspects of yoga and invite you to develop your awareness of these elements - and the interplay between them - so that your practice can become more effective and supportive.
This program is published in loving memory of our dear friend and colleague, Anat, whose wish it was to share this series. We feel truly privileged that Anat was part of the EkhartYoga community and are ever-grateful to her for sharing the deep wisdom of her teachings
Though the benefits of a physical yoga practice (asana) are well-documented, what you may not be so familiar with is the fact that all the stretching, twisting and squeezing we do in yoga also generates the movement of energy.
Chakras are centres of energy and consciousness located in our spine and brain. Just as the different centres in our brain have different functions (perception, speech, movement, cognition, and so on) - each chakra regulates particular aspects or systems of our physical body. For more information, watch Anat’s talk, What are the chakras?
Meridians are channels of energy. They run through our fascia (connective tissue) and play an important role in the health of our organs, emotions and thoughts. According to yoga tradition the chakras ‘rule’ or regulate the meridians. If there is an imbalance in the chakra that regulates that meridian, that can - in turn - cause the meridian to come out of balance and this has a knock-on effect on our health.
In short, it’s a collaborative effort, which is why it serves us to make our practice as multi-dimensional as possible.
This program is suitable for all levels, but particularly suited to those who are looking to become more familiar with the subtler aspects of the practice.
