A 5 week program of Yin yoga practices based on the 5 Elements and Meridian theory, designed to support and nourish your whole body and mind. Follow the program to join.
The 5 elements in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and culture are Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal. Each element corresponds with different seasons, emotions, biological functions, organs, directions of energy and meridians (energetic channels).
When our energy is flowing freely the five elements are said to be in balance. But when out of balance energy becomes blocked or deficient which can manifest in emotional and physical symptoms.
The holistic frameworks of the 5 Elements and Meridian theory can help us to recognise where we may have these imbalances or blocks and offer us specific self-care practices to help remedy them.
In this program, José will guide you through an in-depth practice each week which will focus on a different element and corresponding meridian. You’ll practice Yin yoga poses and other techniques, such as massaging acupressure points, to stimulate and nourish the meridians associated with each element.
While the program is not designed to replace medical advice, it is a useful way to look more holistically at different areas of our lives - giving ourselves a Yin yoga check-up! - and bringing in practices that support our whole body systems.
With José’s gentle guidance, this program will help you:

We recommend you spend a week with each element. Practice each class a couple of times, if you can. We recommend that you journal your experience afterwards to help you reflect on how the class affected you.
The program is suitable for all levels of yoga experience. The practices in this program are designed to support your health; however, they may bring up strong feelings and sensations in the process. Allow those emotions to come up and approach them with patience and compassion. But stay at a level of challenge that feels manageable for you that day.
