In this relaxing Yin class we practice being in the here and now. As you may know, Yin yoga is a great way to practice awareness presence. With its long held poses and practice of becoming still instead of reacting, surrendering completely and staying with whatever arises, Yin invites your mind to anchor in the present moment. It’s in this space where you can connect with that ever-present observer or consciousness that resides within all of us.
In this class we’ll do some variations of Deer pose to target, stimulate and open the hips, back, and chest. When discomfort or strong tension emerges, rather than pulling away, José invites you to lean in. Dive into those sensations, expanding them beyond the confines of your physical self. After all, we, like everything around us, are made of energy – ever-flowing and ever-changing. Try not to let your thoughts create any barriers of like and dislike; surrender, stay open and aware. We will end with a Savasana and meditation, in order for you to feel a deep sense of release and connection with the consciousness that resides within you.
As usual, José gives different options for each pose so you can adapt them to your possibilities.
Props: blanket, pillow, bolster and two blocks.
