Having trouble with digestion and tense chest and shoulders? Then this elemental Yin class is for you. Doing yoga asanas harmonises the chi flow – the pure universal energy - in the body. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine when we suffer from physical, mental or emotional ailments or discomfort, it means there is an imbalance in the chi flow. The various ailments correspond to a different kind of energy and in Chinese medicine these energies are represented by the 5 elements or the 5 elemental energies.
In this class we will aim to release any stagnation in your shoulder mobility or diminish the malfunctioning of your digestion, by stimulating the chi flow in the meridians of Stomach and Spleen which are connected to the earth energy within us. José will explain during the class how that earth energy can be recognised and how it manifests in us on a physical, emotional and mental level. We will start with pranayama that aids the organs of digestion, followed by Yin poses that open, twist and release the area of the belly, shoulders and upper back. We will finish the session with a Savasana and meditation. This session will leave you feel energetic, replenished and opened up at the same time. As usual José gives different options for each pose so you can adapt them to your possibilities and get the benefits.
You’ll need: a blanket, belt, 2 blocks, bolster and pillow.
