A thematic class focusing on moving and stretching the back and shoulders. We start by lying on the ground for some gentle exploration, then build up to some seated movements and eventually to lunge variations. More standing variations plus a bit of balance round out the standing section.
The class has a repeated movement with one hand behind the head, bringing the elbow to the opposite knee in different variations. This is to build strength and mobility in three valuable shoulder and back muscles: Pectorals, Trapezius and Latissimus. There are some ‘bonus break’ shoulder strengtheners between the waves and we end by pressing the head to a block to realign with stability.
Props needed: a block, plus a blanket for under the knees.
