Do you suffer from a tense piriformis muscle or external rotator muscles in the buttock area, creating impingement of the sciatic nerve? Then this short but effective session is for you.
Using the wall, a sock and 2 tennis balls, we’ll release the tension in the buttock area. First we will stretch the piriformis muscle, then use the ball to release even deeper tension by stimulating acupuncture point GB 30.
You can adjust your body in order to find the ‘juicy' - most of the time painful - spot. If it is too intense, move away from the area a bit, so that you can relax. Relaxation of the muscles we target with the balls is essential, so that the pressure of the balls and gravity can work their magic.
At the end we will slip into Shavasana right away, so make sure you are comfortable and warm when you practice. This is a great practice to keep repeating.
Props needed: a bolster or pillow, blanket, 2 tennis balls and a sports sock (I will explain how to use this during the practice).
