This is a longer practice to help prepare the body for bound pigeon pose. The sequence takes you through hip rotations, quadricep and hip flexor lengthening, upper arm and armpit chest stretches and a bit of back bending. These are the component parts of the preparation for the pose. The rodeo part utilises the belt to ‘catch’ the pigeon and help you find your version of the pose. David begins by recalling his childhood going to rodeos, which at the time seemed like a fun and exciting thing for a young guy in the late 70’s / early 80’s in America to do. This is a valuable lesson that David weaves through the class: not to beat ourselves up for mistakes in the past, but to learn and grow from them. Please have a belt and 2 blocks ready for this practice.
