Many of us sit long hours at desks in a hunched position. We can end up bringing that shape - usually the rising of the shoulders - into our yoga practice unless we re-programme the back muscles to support and simultaneously open the chest. This class is part tutorial and part short sequence to help you find the best way to engage the muscles in the back of the body to create stability and strength. This allows you to feel more comfortable in holding the spine upright, as well as discovering more ease in your backbends.
As usual, Julie changes direction a lot during class, so we suggest placing your mat length-ways.
