Electrolytes are responsible for keeping the body hydrated, allowing the muscles and nerves to function properly.
When you exercise a lot, this is important! When we sweat, we are most likely to lose the sodium, potassium and chlorides, all electrolytes.
Lemon and honey drink
- 4 cups warm water (if the water is too hot, it kills some of the honey’s health-giving properties)
- Juice of 1 lemon or ¼ cup of lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons honey
- ¼ teaspoon rock or sea salt
Orange and honey drink
- 5 cups water
- ¼ teaspoon rock or sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ squeezed orange
- 3 teaspoons honey
Mix well and drink after a yoga class or workout to stay energised.
